These attacks can steal personal details, like bank accounts to breaches of national security secrets and failure of military equipment. As you can tell, these are no joke. Not only can they take valuable data, they can also also stop data from reaching other places. They can disrupt and paralyze computer systems. As we become more advanced, so are the cyber attacks. They will become more sophisticated and harder to cease.

How to Protect Yourself

You want to protect yourself from cyber attack so your personal information doesn't get stolen. There are many ways to protect yourself but here are some that you can do easily. One way of protecting yourself is to limit on sharing some personal information on the web and also making sure that your passwords are strong and that you only know them. Another way you can protect yourself is to make sure you have an antivirus and/or firewall to help prevent a virus attack. Finally, another way you can protect yourself is to watch for suspicious activity. This can include suspicious links, offers that sound too good to be true, and something that needs your personal information. If you are in doubt, don't do it.

The infomations that is gathered is then used to access important information and can result in financial loss and identity theft. There are different types of phishing. These can include "vishing" (voice phishing) and "smishing" (SMS phishing).

These cyber attacks aren't always focused on individuals, they can focus on large companies where they can steal valuable data and this can cause the company to shut down.

How to Protect Yourself

Here are some ways that you can protect yourself from being phished. The most important one is to always be cautious of the information that you recieve. Even if it's from your company, always be cautious. Another way to protect yourself is to never click links or attachments that are listed on the scamming email. If you see an email that you don't recongnize and you think that it is a scam, delete it. Also, you should never put personal information in pop-up screens. Legitimate companies don't have pop-up screens where you can put your information.
